Meniscus surgery is a procedure to repair or remove damaged cartilage (meniscus) in the knee joint. It is commonly performed to relieve pain, improve mobility, and prevent further knee damage.
Meniscus Repair – The torn meniscus is stitched back together. Recommended for younger patients and specific tear types.
Partial Meniscectomy – The damaged portion of the meniscus is removed, allowing for smoother knee movement.
Total Meniscectomy – The entire meniscus is removed if it is severely damaged (rarely performed).
Persistent knee pain and swelling
Difficulty in bending or straightening the knee
Locking or catching sensation in the knee
Instability or weakness in the knee joint
Minimally Invasive (Arthroscopy): A small camera and specialized instruments are used for precise surgery with minimal incisions.
Outpatient Surgery: Patients can often return home the same day.
Recovery Time: Varies depending on the procedure; usually 4–6 weeks for meniscectomy and 3–6 months for meniscus repair.
